The Addiction of Ularn · Ultra-Larn, with classes, demon lords and a deeper volcano
> Enter the dungeonuLarn is a direct descendant of Larn, Noah Morgan’s 1986 game. In 1987 Phil Cordier, at UC Santa Cruz, modified the Larn 12 source into Ultra-Larn, “Ularn” for short, and posted it to the Usenet group comp.sources.games; his README of 12 June 1992 calls that version “much improved over the version that was posted”. It is a sibling of Kevin Routley’s Larn 12.1–12.4 line, not a child of it.
Josh Brandt picked the code up in 2001 (“Ularn 1.5ish, patchlevel 4”), made it compile on modern Unixes and fixed many bugs; Josh Bressers moved it to git in 2006 and tagged it 1.7.0. This port builds ularn/ularn at ef42184. See the family tree, under Larn. Sources: Wikipedia, RogueBasin, the upstream README and data/Uhelp.

uLarn has no separate manual. Its in-game help (?, from data/Uhelp) and the upstream README are here: manual. Also: Phil Cordier’s spoiler guide (README.spoilers), the changelog (2001 patchlevels plus the TODO list) and the licence (GNU GPL 2).
We found no walkthrough for uLarn. The goal: bring the potion of cure dianthroritis home from the bottom of the volcano before the time runs out. Rules of thumb, from Cordier’s spoilers:
